back from snowshoe

Emily and I just got back from a rocking trip to Snowshoe, WV.  Three days of friends, skiing, hot tubs and Texas Hold'em... could a vacation get any better?  I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I wanted, but here's one that stuck out to me.

I also want to give a shout out to my mom.  She celebrates her leap year birthday today.  Happy birthday Mom!

cincinnati wedding, jacob & becky

This weekend, I had the honor of driving up to Milford, Ohio to shoot my buddy Jacob's wedding.  Jacob and I have been friends since freshman year of college and I absolutely treasure his friendship.  He was a groomsman in my wedding and I was honored when he asked me to shoot his wedding.  I really haven't met anybody like Jacob.  He is the definition of friend.  He's loyal, selfless and a heck of a racquetball intramural teammate!  (He and another one of the groomsmen also helped me set everything up the night I proposed to Emily on the fire escape of the library at college... and for that I am forever indebted!)  It was no surprise to me that he found someone as beautiful and loving as Becky to marry.  Here are some images from their wedding!

Becky adds some color to the cake.

The girls had a bunch of laughs while they got ready.

This is the first time I've witnessed a groom steam a tie while he's wearing it!

As we walked outside for some shots of the guys, I couldn't help but notice a ladder leaning against the side of the church.  It was practically begging to be used!

dare I walk on this weird white stuff?

Avery loves snow.  She admires it out the window and enjoys reading about it in books.  But Emily and I found out recently that walking on snow  was an altogether different story.  For some reason, when we let her stand on the snowy ground, she completely flipped.  We were dumbfounded.  What should we do?  While I asked Emily that question, the thought raced through my head, "No child of mine is going to be scared of the snow!"  So we let her cry it out.  In just a few short moments, she calmed down and began to have a ball.  Here are some fun images from Avery's first walk on the snow!

Okay, I can do this...

Hey this is fun!

Could you believe she was balling 2 minutes before this?

big smiles from lerran

Just when I thought I couldn't get any mushier, Lerran was born.  Would you believe she's almost 9 months old?  As an almost nine-month-old, she hasn't been getting into much trouble yet.  Her days are spent jumping in a bouncy swing and munching on whatever toy is nearby.  Avery, our two-year-old, is getting her to make some pretty funny noises.  They're hilarious to watch together.  Here are a few images I took of Lerran just before the snow hit Louisville.

Lerran laughs at Emily's goofy faces in the backyard.

Avery ventured out into the snow for the first time today.  I took some fun images of her so I'll be sure to post them soon.  Check back later!

louisville engagement session, allison & michael

Allison and Michael came to Louisville this weekend for their engagement session.  They currently live in New York City and are getting married in Cincinnati this May.  Allison booked her wedding date over the phone so this was my first opportunity to meet either of them face to face.  What a riot!  Michael and Allison have such a fun time together and their optimism despite the cold was a huge plus.  (It was cold... like put the gloves on a pray your fingers don't fall of cold.)  I ended up loving so many pictures from their session, I decided to put up a bunch.  Enjoy!

I love the feel of this image.  Michael is a Red Sox fan and this wall's color reminded me of the Green Monster.
