louisville wedding, kara & justin

On Saturday, I shot Kara and Justin's wedding in Shelbyville, Kentucky.  The wedding had dozens of really funny moments that had me cracking up all day.  (Most of them had to do with guests doing crazy things at the reception.)  Kara and Justin are wonderful people that really enjoy life and one another, which made shooting the wedding so much fun.  It was one of those weddings where I left the reception, rolled down the windows in my car, cranked up some country music and just thanked God for life and my family.

Figuring out how to get into the dress.

I loved Kara's dress.

I've already decided that we're doing this to Lerran's hair once she grows some!

Getting the aisle runner to cooperate turned into one of the funniest ceremony moments I've ever photographed.  First the tape came off.  No problem, just step on it, right?

Next, these poor ushers (who handled everything so gracefully!) discovered pins still embedded into the rolled fabric.

Everybody, including grandma, had a good laugh.

The band's name was New Breed.  They were such entertainers, especially when their lead busted out some Michael Jackson.

Kara's uncle (I think) stole the hat and did his best Michael Jackson as well.

ohio wedding, lindsey & colin

A bride who loves the Wolverines and a groom who loves the Nittany Lions get married in the heart of Buckeye Country.  Sounds like a train wreck, doesn't it?  It was anything but.  On Friday, I went up to Columbus, Ohio to shoot Lindsey and Colin's wedding.  Lindsey and Colin were absolutely wonderful.  During the speeches, it was said that Lindsey is a best friend to everybody she meets and throughout the wedding day I could easily see that those words were true.  (I've got a zillion photographs of hugs and laughter to prove it!)  This wedding was also very special because two of my favorite past wedding couples were there: Rachel & Lee (6-11-05) and Elizabeth & Ben (8/4/07).

As everybody else is looking toward Lindsey, Colin's mom watches him.

Colin is such a respectable guy and I think it shows in this image.

Pretty flowers.

Colin was pumped.

While we were photographing some family shots, these two wandered onto the same benches where Lindsey & Colin knelt.

Turns out Colin isn't just hilarious.  He's also insanely sweet.  When the guests weren't laughing, they were wiping their eyes.

Lindsey surprised Colin with his favorite flavor of cake, confetti.  Now that's love.

Colin & Lindsey, I had such a fun time at your wedding!  (And Colin, that's what you get when you rip on Michigan during your speech.)

ohio engagement, johanna & aaron

I first got an email from Johanna several months ago.  She was planning a destination wedding in St. Petersburg, Florida for May 2008.  I get inquiries for destination weddings all the time, but because they're usually booked on shorter notice, I'm most often already booked.  This time, I wasn't!  And I have the Kentucky Derby to thank for it.  So instead of grilling out and watching the Derby live in 08, I'll be shooting Johanna and Aaron's wedding in St. Pete.  Johanna is Colleen's cousin (the bride from the previous post).  So she was in Colleen's wedding in Ohio.  We shot their engagement session the following day, which happened to be the last day of the Scarecrow Festival in Washing Courthouse.  (Small towns in Ohio LOVE their festivals.)

Before I show you the engagement session, I've got to post a shot of Aaron getting down at the wedding the before.  He and Johanna were booty-shakin' all night long.

If you've read my blog for a while, you know I'm a big Michigan fan (still recovering from the first two weeks of the season... thank you all for the cards and flowers.)  To make matters worse, Johanna won a Buckeye Brutus doll at the festival.  Even now as I look at him, he's taunting me.

Whoa!  Easy fella.

On her next game, Johanna won a pink pig, which she later gave to my daughter Avery for her 2nd birthday, proving that not all Buckeye fans are cold, heartless human beings.

Is there anything more beautiful than your fiance in your favorite team's jersey?

Johanna's got some serious guns.

And a pretty good arm, too.

Looking forward to your wedding guys!

ohio wedding, colleen & aaron

On the 15th, I shot Colleen and Aaron's wedding up in Washington Courthouse, Ohio.  If you've never heard of the town before, it's because it's teeny.  They got my name from Beth, whose wedding I shot last year in the same area.  Colleen and I ended up having a really random thing in common.  She used to be a counselor at one of my favorite places in the world, Lake Ann Camp.  It's an awesome Christian camp for kids up near Traverse City, Michigan.  I went there for a week every summer growing up and loved it!  Anyway, here are some images from Colleen and Aaron's wedding.

Chaps.

louisville wedding, renee & kevin

Renee first called me over 18 months ago to check on availability.  She was going to camp out at the doorstep of Gardencourt to secure a prime Saturday and wanted to make sure I was available for the date she landed on.  Anybody who camps out to secure there wedding reception venue deserves major props in my book.  Renee and Kevin's wedding finally came about on September 8, 2008.  (Yes, I'm still behind in blogging.  By November, I'll catch up.  I promise.)  It was great!  Renee and Kevin made me feel like an old friend from the first time I met them all the way until they said goodbye at the reception and took off for their honeymoon.

Somebody's excited.
