louisville wedding, jessica & ethan

Jessica & Ethan got married at the newly renovated Henry Clay downtown.  I was really excited to shoot this wedding because I knew how much fun Jessica and Ethan were and it was my first wedding at the Henry Clay.  Jessica & Ethan commissioned the talented Arnie Levine to bring their vision to life.  As you can tell from the photographs, the wedding was absolutely incredible on all accounts.

While Jessica was getting her makeup on, she let me take her engagement ring.  I nearly ran off with it.  Future brides, that's a joke.  I would never do such a thing. :-)

I also had some time to check out the details in the Grand Ballroom.

I love Jewish weddings because the family is so close to the couple during the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we went onto this romantic terrace for a few quick portraits.

Can I post one more detail shot of the room?  It was just so gorgeous!

The Chicago-based band, Front of House, was insanely talented and kept the party going non-stop.

Ethan's speech rivaled the tales of Chaucer, honoring their families and his new bride.

Everybody was rolling during Ethan's speech as he recounted the trials Jessica's family put him through to earn their favor.

If you've never been to a Jewish wedding, you don't know how much fun it is to be a part of the hora.

I love this shot of Jessica and Ethan being tossed up in the air by their friends.

Congratulations Jessica and Ethan!  Thank you for letting me be a part of such an important day in your lives.  See you soon and have fun in Africa!

images of my daughters

It has recently come to my attention that I have not posted any photographs of my beautiful family on the blog lately.  Well today, I'm going to put a stop to the nonsense and post some images of my girls.  After Erin & Taylor's wedding in Detroit, the Pellowe family hopped over to Lake Michigan for a small vacation.  We had a great time catching up with family and friends.  And I even reeled in my first king salmon with the help of my nephew Jordan.  The king proved to be good fight and was absolutely delicious!

Lerran is already 3 months old and quite adorable.

Her big sister Avery is pretty cute herself.  She'll be two in September.

Another fun shot of Avery.

And I had to throw in this shot of Avery, Emily and Lerran.  Am I a lucky guy or what?

detroit, michigan wedding, erin & taylor

I had the distinct honor of photographing Erin and Taylor's wedding in Detroit, Michigan last Saturday.  I first met Erin when I was a groomsman in her sister's wedding several years ago.  My best friend Tom, whom I've known since the 5th grade, married one of Erin's three sisters back in 2004. I immediately fell in love with their family and was so happy that she wanted me to shoot her wedding!

After soccer, the guys stood around a piano singing songs.  I believe this shot was during Elton John's "Piano Man".

Each table at the reception had its own wedding cake on it.  As you can see, everybody loved being able to cut their own wedding cake.

ohio engagement, stephanie & matt

I'm in a very good mood.  And it's not just because the Tigers beat the Indians last night.  Although I admit that is a fairly large factor.  (If you like great baseball, check out Curtis Granderson's game-saving catch on the highlight video.)  The main reason I'm in a great mood is I just shot a really fun engagement session up in Ohio.  I know Matt from my college days.  We lived on the same floor for several years and had way too much fun with things like potato guns, boxing gloves and video games.  I can quickly see why Matt fell for Stephanie and can't wait to shoot their wedding next month.  We met in a funky little town called Yellow Springs for the session and didn't stop laughing the whole time.

louisville wedding, joe & keren

I first met Keren when I shot her sister, Noemi's, wedding this past April.  I was thrilled when Keren asked me to shoot her wedding because I had already witnessed how amazing she and her family was.  Much of Keren's extended family resides in Puerto Rico and it was so much fun to see them all again.  (Especially you Luis!)  Joe brought an exciting edge to the wedding day, which made for some great times.

Keren was anxious for the words, "You may kiss this bride."  But instead, her father gave a Spanish translation of everything that was just said.  It was great!

Before Joe takes off the garter, he had a little show of his own.

As Joe emerged with the garter, the dj quickly switched to "Whoomp there it is" and I immediately felt like I was in sixth grade.

While dancing with Keren, Joe was caught off guard by what can only be described as an ambush freak.
